The Darius Jones Foundation First Annual 5K Run/Walk

A 5K (5 Kilometer) run/walk is being held to commemorate the tragic death of a local 15 year old high school athlete, Pittsburg resident Darius Jones, who suffered sudden cardiac arrest and died while playing in a youth basketball game Oct. 11, 2009. This event will raise awareness and funds for the Darius Jones Foundation. Your participation will help us to reach a fundraising goal of $26,000. This will provide 10 AED’s (automated external defibrillators) to local schools and 100 local coaches with certified CPR training.
Date

On Saturday, October 9, 2010
from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Opening ceremony will begin at the John Muir Amphitheater, 115 Tarantino Drive , Martinez , CA. From there the run/wal [run/walk] will proceed through the Martinez Regional Shoreline Park and end with a celebration at the Amphitheater.
